**Israel Prepares Humanitarian Aid Distribution Centers Amid Controversies in Gaza**

**New plans for aid hubs face criticism as the humanitarian situation worsens.**

**Israel is set to establish humanitarian aid distribution centers in Gaza, amid declining food and medical supplies and widespread condemnation of its blockade strategy.**

Israel has initiated plans to create humanitarian aid distribution centers in Gaza, as evidenced by satellite images that reveal ongoing construction efforts. The Israeli government previously suspended food and medicine deliveries to Gaza in March, citing the need to pressure Hamas for the release of hostages. This decision has faced backlash from the UN and various international leaders, who have warned that Gaza’s population of approximately 2.1 million is at risk of famine due to the blockade.

The U.S. has corroborated the establishment of new aid distribution centers, which will be managed by private companies and secured by Israeli forces. Despite Israel keeping the exact locations of the hubs confidential, sources indicate at least four sites are planned in southern Gaza, and one in the northern region near the Netzarim Corridor, an area under military control. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has announced intentions to commence operations before the end of May, although it voiced concerns over the limited outreach, stating that aid would only reach 1.2 million people, which is under 60% of the local population.

The UN has resolutely rejected cooperation with the plan, emphasizing it violates fundamental humanitarian principles. A spokesperson from the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs criticized the arrangement, suggesting it would deprive many of assistance and effectively turn aid into a strategic weapon within the ongoing conflict.

NGOs such as Oxfam have similarly condemned the initiative. Bushra Khalidi remarked that no logistical measures could mitigate Israel's broader strategy of displacement and starvation. The overall sentiment underscores a call for lifting the blockade and allowing unimpeded aid access to those in need.

The satellite imagery analysis by BBC Verify has identified potential sites for these distribution centers, indicating significant development is underway in southern Gaza, especially near an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) base. Officials noted that the design of these facilities appears aimed at ensuring security and control over aid flow.

As the Israeli military has implemented a newly established security zone and expanded roadways throughout Gaza, concerns mount regarding the humanitarian implications. The UN continues to stress Israel's responsibilities under international law, emphasizing that alleviating humanitarian crises is of utmost priority.

While construction progresses at the designated sites, reactions from the international community are varied. The situation in Gaza unfolds amid a backdrop of increasing tension and conflict, with global observers keenly monitoring developments related to humanitarian efforts and the ongoing blockade.
