Recovery efforts intensify as wreckage is located in Amur region following flight carrying 49 people.
Rescue teams in Russia's Amur region have discovered the wreckage of an Angara airlines An-24 plane that went missing while en route to Tynda airport. The aircraft, which was carrying 43 passengers, including five children, and six crew members, disappeared from the radar approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) from its destination after departing from Blagoveshchensk, close to the Chinese border.
Regional Governor Vasily Orlov confirmed that "all necessary resources" were mobilized for the search operation. Shortly after the disappearance, the Russian emergencies ministry reported that a civil aviation helicopter spotted a burning fuselage of the aircraft. The wreckage was located on a hillside in the vicinity of Tynda, as indicated by the Amur civil defense center.
Emergency services are currently en route to the crash site to assess the situation and carry out rescue operations. The An-24 aircraft was in the final phase of its journey, having come from Khabarovsk located in the far southeast of Russia.
