Man Attempts Daring Leap onto Moving High-Speed Train
Astonishing act in Austria as a man jumps onto a high-speed train after missing his stop.
In a shocking incident reported from St. Poelten, Austria, a 24-year-old man from Algeria jumped onto a high-speed train as it left the station, after having missed his stop. According to local media, the remarkable act occurred during what was supposed to be just a quick cigarette break.
Realizing that the train had begun to depart while he was outside, the man made an impulsive decision to climb onto the narrow gap between two train carriages. He then began banging on the windows to alert passengers inside, prompting the train conductor to make an emergency stop to allow him to board. This unusual event led to a tense exchange between the man and the conductor, as noted by local tabloid Heute.
An official spokesperson for Austrian rail operator OBB remarked on the incident, emphasizing the unsafety associated with such reckless behavior: "It is irresponsible; this kind of thing usually ends up with someone dying." Fortunately, the train managed to arrive at its next destination, Vienna, with only a seven-minute delay.
Law enforcement responded quickly, taking the man into custody following the altercation. This is not the first occurrence of passengers attempting perilous engagements with trains; a similar event unfolded earlier this year in Germany, where a fare-dodger clung to the outside of a high-speed train in a desperate move to keep his luggage onboard during a cigarette break.
As of now, the man’s fate remains uncertain while authorities address safety concerns linked to these audacious actions.
