Escalating Tensions: Israel Strikes Critical Energy Infrastructure in Tehran

Early Sunday, strikes targeted the Shahran fuel depot, home to numerous storage tanks, leading to chaos among residents in the affluent area. “The fire is terrifying, it’s massive; there is a lot of commotion here,” reported Mostafa Shams, a local resident who described the scene as explosive and frightening.

In addition to the Shahran depot, the southern region of the city, known as Shahr Rey, also saw a direct hit on one of Iran’s largest oil refineries. Eyewitness Reza Salehi mentioned the massive flames visible from a considerable distance as emergency services rushed to manage the unfolding disaster. The Iranian oil ministry has confirmed the strikes, underscoring the targeting of energy facilities, which are vital both for the country's economy and for sustaining domestic energy supplies.
