Allegations Against Fayed Brothers Expand: A Shocking Tale of Abuse
Three brothers associated with Harrods, facing accusations of sexual assault, reshape the narrative of the previous billionaires' scandal.
Amy McIlquham was only 21 when she was invited on a weekend trip to Gstaad, Switzerland. She had joined the prestigious Harrods luxury department store in London in 1993, participating in a work-abroad program from Canada that led to her promotion as a personal assistant to the co-owner, Mohamed al-Fayed, and his brothers, Salah and Ali.
In early 1994, McIlquham flew to Gstaad aboard the company’s private jet to assist Ali Fayed. However, upon arrival, she found herself alone with Ali and a housekeeper, with no work to occupy her time. It was not long before she encountered a harrowing experience that would forever haunt her.
In a chilling recollection, McIlquham described the moment Ali, who was in his early 50s at the time, took her to a swimming pool: "I just remember him pulling me in, the groping and the pulling in from the waist and my bottom, just grabbing and groping and pulling." She believes this traumatic encounter occurred around April 30, 1994, coinciding with the Eurovision Song Contest as a faint backdrop to an otherwise unsettling memory.
Now 52, McIlquham has come forward with her story, asserting, "I was molested, sexually molested, without a doubt. And he was just giggling." This testimony adds a grave dimension to the allegations surrounding the Fayed brothers, who were once synonymous with the opulence of Harrods, a symbol of luxury in London.
With this shocking revelation, the narrative shifts from a singular focus on Mohamed al-Fayed to encompass his brothers, Salah and Ali, as their involvement in the alleged abuse comes to light, raising pressing questions about accountability and the pervasive culture of silence surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct.
