The last communication from Henderson came shortly after 2 p.m., when he informed friends via text that he was putting his phone in airplane mode, indicating he was preparing for the hike.
Henderson, currently living in Amsterdam, had been vacationing in Spain and had previously participated in the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. He planned to hike Mount Perdido, the third-highest peak in the region, known for its breathtaking scenery and challenging terrain, characterized by steep ascents that require careful navigation.
Friends became concerned after Henderson failed to board his scheduled flight home to the Netherlands last weekend, prompting them to report him missing. Following their report, the Spanish Guardia Civil initiated a search in Huesca province, deploying specialized search teams and helicopters. Henderson's vehicle was found parked in Torla, the gateway to Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, where many hikers begin their excursions in the summer season.
