Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the shooting death of healthcare insurance CEO Brian Thompson, faced court in Pennsylvania on Tuesday while declaring his innocence and contesting extradition to New York. As he was escorted in wearing an orange jumpsuit, he shouted phrases like "completely unjust" at waiting reporters. The court hearing is significant because it precedes a potential transfer to New York, where he faces serious murder charges.

After his arrest at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania—a result of a multi-state manhunt—police reported that he was found with a weapon resembling the one used in the murder, silencer, and fake identification. Additionally, authorities discovered what appeared to be a handwritten note allegedly outlining Mangione's grievances with the U.S. healthcare system, suggesting a motive potentially linked to his frustrations with corporate healthcare practices.
