In a revealing interview with Vanity Fair, actress Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in "Euphoria" and "White Lotus," voiced her belief that the celebration of female empowerment in Hollywood is largely superficial. Despite the industry frequently promoting the idea of women supporting each other, Sweeney claims it's more of a façade. "This entire industry, all people say is 'women empowering other women.' None of it is happening. All of it is fake and a front for all the other [stuff] that they say behind everyone’s back," she stated.

The actress, whose romantic comedy "Anyone But You" has garnered $220 million at the box office, highlighted the troubling dynamics among women in the industry. Addressing previous derogatory comments made about her by a female producer, which questioned her looks and talent, Sweeney remarked, "It’s very disheartening to see women tear other women down."

She also reflected on societal pressures and cultural narratives that pit women against one another, explaining, "Our entire lives, we were raised - and it’s a generational problem - to believe only one woman can be at the top." Sweeney believes this mentality fosters rivalry, making it difficult for women to lift each other up rather than pull each other down. "I’m still trying to figure it out. I’m just trying my best over here. Why am I getting attacked?"

This discussion comes in light of recent comments made by Carol Baum, a producer known for films like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Baum expressed her confusion over Sweeney's rising popularity, questioning her talent and appeal in a disparaging manner. Sweeney's representative rebuffed Baum's remarks, stating, "How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman."
