One of the perpetrators involved in the notorious jewellery heist against reality TV star Kim Kardashian has passed away shortly after being convicted. Didier Dubreucq, a 69-year-old man, succumbed to lung cancer just a month after he and several accomplices were found guilty for stealing millions of dollars’ worth of jewels from Kardashian during a high-profile incident in Paris nearly ten years ago, according to French media reports.
Dubreucq, who was undergoing chemotherapy at the time of his trial, consistently denied participating in the robbery, insisting on his innocence and claiming it was a case of mistaken identity. During his testimony, he stated, "I had nothing to do with this." Despite being absent during the sentencing due to his health condition, he was sentenced to seven years in prison, though five of those were suspended. He faced no further time in jail, having already served two years in pre-trial detention.
The trial captured significant media attention as it revealed the harrowing details of the incident where Kardashian was held at gunpoint and feared for her life. On the day she testified, the reality star recounted her panic, stating she believed she would be "shot dead on the bed."
