Watch: Moments from the Menendez Brothers Trial in 1993

Erik and Lyle Menendez, who have spent more than 30 years in prison for the 1989 murders of their parents, are making their case for parole this week. The brothers will appear separately before the state parole board in California.

In 1996, the pair was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting deaths of Kitty and Jose Menendez. However, a judge reduced their sentence in May to 50 years to life, making them eligible for parole, with Erik's hearing set for Thursday and Lyle's on Friday.

Video from the brothers' first trial in 1993 captures an emotional rollercoaster as they disclose their experiences regarding the murders and their claims of being abused by their parents. This trial ultimately resulted in a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury.

As this week unfolds, the echoes of their past are loud, with much attention on how the tragic tale continues to resonate in our society.
