Over 1,200 residents are forced to evacuate as tragic floods take 13 lives in Argentine city.
Bahía Blanca is reeling from catastrophic flooding that has left at least 13 people dead and forced more than 1,200 residents to flee their homes. A massive downpour of over 400mm (15.7 inches) of rain fell within a short period, resulting in severe waterlogging that has decimated parts of this southern Argentine city.
The torrential rains have triggered power outages across the area, leaving many without electricity amid the chaos. Roads and bridges have suffered extensive damage, with debris littering the streets and numerous vehicles stranded after being swept away by the deluge.
Residents captured extreme footage showing the aftermath of the floods, where cars were piled up and homes submerged. The rainfall recorded in just one day is nearly a third of the total average annual precipitation for the region, illustrating the severity of this natural disaster. Emergency services are rallying to assist those affected, but the situation remains critical as water levels continue to pose threats across Bahía Blanca.
