In a shocking turn of events, US influencer Sam Jones, known online as Samantha Strable, has left Australia after facing intense backlash for taking a baby wombat from its mother and sharing the footage on social media. The Australian Home Affairs Minister, Tony Burke, announced the review of her visa status amidst outrage from the public and officials alike; however, Jones left Australia voluntarily.

The situation ignited when she posted a video of herself capturing a baby wombat while laughing and running away from its distressed mother. The footage, which depicted the baby wombat hissing in distress, was met with condemnation from various quarters, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who described the incident as an "outrage."

In an apparent attempt to respond to the backlash, a new TikTok account claiming to be Jones shared a post indicating the harassment and threats she has received, stating that the situation was overwhelming. Nonetheless, most of the commentary remained negative, with many users drawing comparisons between her actions and a hypothetical scenario involving a child being taken away from a parent.
