Beyoncé Surpasses Jay-Z as Most-Nominated Artist in Grammy History
Beyoncé's historic rise in Grammy nominations continues as she claims the top spot, overtaking husband Jay-Z.
Beyoncé has officially made her mark in Grammy history by becoming the most-nominated artist of all time, moving ahead of her husband Jay-Z. Previously tied at 88 nominations, Beyoncé has now received her 89th nomination in the best pop solo performance category for her song "Bodyguard," part of her latest album, "Cowboy Carter."
As the Grammy Awards prepare for the 2025 ceremony, Beyoncé already holds a record 32 wins, alongside three additional wins with her group Destiny's Child. Despite her success, she has notably never won the prestigious album of the year award, having been nominated four times. At the 2023 Grammy ceremony, Harry Styles took home the award, which many believed would go to Beyoncé for her album "Renaissance," a strong contender.
Earlier this year, Jay-Z expressed his frustration over Beyoncé's lack of recognition in the album of the year category while accepting a lifetime achievement award. "I don't want to embarrass this young lady," he remarked, highlighting the irony of her immense Grammy wins without taking home the top award.
As the anticipation builds for the 2025 Grammy nominees, industry insiders expect Beyoncé to garner a fifth nomination for album of the year. Other artists, such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan, are also anticipated to compete for the coveted title.
The nominations for all 94 categories will be livestreamed on the Grammy ceremony's YouTube channel, with appearances from notable artists like Kylie Minogue and Mark Ronson. British star Raye has already received early nods, including songwriter of the year and best new artist, while iconic band The Rolling Stones are vying for best rock album with their new release "Hackney Diamonds." As the shortlist gradually unfolds, the excitement surrounding this year's Grammy Awards continues to grow.
