The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo has confirmed the death of Uriel Nuri, who was tragically killed by a tiger that escaped from its enclosure during a behind-the-scenes tour on Friday morning. Nuri, 36, had been working on preparations for the tigers when the incident occurred, leading to his critical injuries. After being rushed to Hadassah University Hospital for treatment, he later died despite prolonged efforts to save him. The zoo emphasized that there was no direct danger to visitors during the attack, who remained safely behind protective glass. The zoo's management is currently collaborating with Israeli police to investigate the circumstances surrounding how the tiger managed to escape, with reports suggesting a possible loosened cage door. The staff expressed their profound sorrow over Nuri's untimely death and voiced condolences to his family. This incident follows a previous safety concern at the zoo, highlighting ongoing challenges in animal care and safety protocols. The zoo, located in southwest Jerusalem, is dedicated to exhibiting biblical and endangered animal species and spans 62 acres.
