Ariana Grande sues hackers who leaked her music
Pop star Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against two unnamed hackers whom she says stole unreleased songs and studio footage from her collaborators’ computers. According to the court papers, the hackers targeted photographers and producers in order to obtain and sell the music on the dark web for significant sums of money.
"In 2023 alone, forty‑five unreleased songs belonging to Ms Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked," the documents state. The singer’s lawyers are seeking the identities of the individuals responsible, arguing that the breach has caused her substantial and irreparable harm.
Grande previously spoke about the fallout from leaked music in a 2024 interview, noting the emotional toll and the need for accountability: Those were all written for a TV show, for something that was not for me, so Fantasize comes out, crazy, was stolen… These pirates, crooks, illegal!
The legal filing details a pattern of abuse that began in 2025, when the hackers allegedly accessed a producer’s mobile device and retrieved unreleased masters and demos. In 2024 they are alleged to have impersonated a photographer to trick a technician into sending unreleased photos of Grande.
The singer’s lawyers argue that the hackers violated California computer‑hacking laws and breached her privacy, disrupting her career and eroding the trust she has built with her fans.
The lawsuit arrives as Grande prepares to release her eighth studio album, Petal, this Friday, and her world tour continues to tour the UK in August. In interviews, she has hinted that the tour may be a “last hurrah” for a long time.
Sources say Grande will be attending the Good Hang podcast to discuss the case, stating, ‘I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful,’ she said. She added, ‘I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like: ‘One last hurrah’ – for now.’
