SANTA ANA, Calif. — For a Disneyland devotee who reached his special milestone of 15,000 rides on the Radiator Springs Racers, it’s not about competing; it’s all about the joy of the experience.
Jon Alan Hale, a resident of Brea, California, became enamored with Disneyland’s California Adventure attraction after recovering from major health surgeries in 2010 and 2011. Since Radiator Springs Racers debuted in 2012, Hale has kept meticulous records of his rides, noting details such as car color and lane.
“I fell in love with the ride,” said Hale, who proudly displayed a sign for his 15,000th ride while donning a festive Cars-themed cap. He commemorated the occasion with friends who work at Disneyland, reminiscing about earlier milestones when the park’s employees applauded him reaching the 1,000 mark.
Hale, who has made over 1,100 visits to the park, averages around 13 rides per trip, benefiting greatly from the expedited line access for single riders. The thrill of each ride keeps him engaged as the outcomes are always a surprise.
“You don’t know who is going to win the race,” Hale explained. “There is no pattern of who wins or loses.” Despite there being no formal record for the number of times one can ride this attraction, Hale’s dedication has fostered a sense of kinship with park staff. He cherished the friendships he has built over time, feeling as though he is part of a family.
“Everybody recognized me, they’re rooting for me,” Hale shared, emphasizing the community bond that forms around shared experiences in the place known as the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
