HBO has announced a new eight‑episode series that extends the story of the 2019 film Crazy Rich Asians. The series will pick up after the film’s events, with Constance Wu and Henry Golding back as Rachel and Nick, respectively.

Ronny Chieng returns as Eddie while Michelle Yeoh will appear as Nick’s mother Eleanor in a recurring role. Adele Lim, co‑writer of the film, is the series showrunner and will share executive‑producer duties with director Jon M Chu.

The production is a collaboration between HBO and Warner Bros Television, and is slated to start filming next year. Lim said the writing team is already busy developing new storylines that explore the depth of Kevin Kwan’s world.

Fans of the book series and the original film are expected to be thrilled by the reunion, as the show promises a fresh look while staying faithful to the characters that captured audiences worldwide.
