Divine Lunga Escapes Fatal Gun Attack in Johannesburg
Zimbabwe national footballer Divine Lunga was driving through Hillbrow when his car was shot at by an unknown gunman, but he survived unharmed.
The 31‑year‑old star – who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns and the Zimbabwe international side – was reportedly on his way to church with his younger brother when the attack took place.
South African police are treating the incident as an attempted murder; no arrests have yet been made and the motive remains unclear.
Crime remains a serious issue in South Africa, where the country records one of the world’s highest murder rates.
Responding to the incident, police spokesman Captain Tintswalo Sibeko stated that law‑enforcement officers were investigating the case but could not share additional details.
