Eurostar and Le Shuttle services between the UK and France have resumed through the Channel Tunnel after major travel disruption on Tuesday.
Thousands of passengers faced hours of delays after Eurostar cancelled most of its London to Europe services due to an overhead power supply problem and a failed Le Shuttle train that blocked all routes.
Repair work took place overnight and rail services through the tunnel in both directions resumed on Wednesday morning.
Eurostar advised passengers to check before travelling as it warned of possible knock-on delays and last-minute cancellations. Most of Eurostar's Wednesday morning services in and out of London St Pancras have departed.
Only three services were cancelled, and Eurostar apologized for any inconvenience caused to passengers. They are planning to run all of their services today but recommended checking live updates on the Eurostar website.
Additionally, passengers affected by the disruption are entitled to enhanced compensation which includes a full refund and an extra voucher as a gesture of goodwill.
Le Shuttle services from Folkestone are now operating normally, albeit with some ongoing delays at Calais as the situation stabilizes.
The Channel Tunnel accommodates Eurostar and Le Shuttle trains, and the operator, Getlink, worked overnight to resolve the issue. Images of stranded passengers in London and traffic jams at Le Shuttle's Terminal were widely shared on social media.
Some passengers had to get creative with their travel plans, like one individual who bought a bike in Brussels to reach Dover after being affected by cancellations.
