Good Good Golf Apologises After Controversial Ad Featuring Woman Being Pushed
Good Good Golf, the golf‑centric YouTube creator with 2.13 million subscribers, removed a Callaway commercial after viewers condemned it for showing a female golfer being shoved to the floor by a male competitor. The clip, set to a comedic tone, ended with the male golfer shouting, “Do not touch my new driver.” Many saw it as a tone‑deaf mockery of violence against women.
In an apology posted to X, Good Good said it “posted a video that ultimately depicted actions that are not aligned with our values as a brand.” The company quickly took the content down and pledged to “continue to ensure that inclusivity remains central to our mission.”
Callaway, which had partnered with Good Good since 2023, released a statement describing the incident as “disappointing” and thanked Good Good for addressing the matter. Callaway also signalled that it remains committed to fostering a “more inclusive space in golf” and is eager to work together to reinforce those values.
The PGA Tour, which has recently increased collaboration with social media creators, reacted by stating that “we do not condone violence in any form” and that the deleted video “does not reflect our values of inclusivity and respect.” The tour also highlighted its support for the upcoming Good Good Championship slated for November in Texas.
Good Good, launched in 2020, grew from a niche golf channel to one of the sport’s biggest YouTube presences. Its content typically features men and women competing in fun challenges, creating TV‑style shows, and advertising golf gear. The brand’s co‑founder, Garrett Clark, and partner Matt Kendrick are visible on both the channel and the brand’s marketing campaigns.
The incident serves as a reminder that content creators must tread carefully when humor involves physical aggression, especially in a sport that emphasizes respect and safety. Good Good’s swift response and commitment to change could set a precedent for future campaigns in the golf community and beyond.
