Russian drone strike hits cables on Kyiv’s Northern Bridge
Russian drone burst on cables of Kyiv’s Northern Bridge.

On Saturday, Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the city’s Northern Bridge spanning the Dnipro River had been struck by a Russian drone, following the prior attack on the Southern Bridge.

The impact damaged the roadway and severed essential trolleybus overhead wires, temporarily halting traffic between the capital’s eastern and western zones. Emergency crews were dispatched to the site, and traffic was blocked from the left to the right bank until repairs could begin.

Klitschko warned that the new pattern of strikes—targeting vital infrastructure—has thrust Kyiv into a “very dramatic” situation. He noted that Moscow was battering the city’s bridges, logistics, housing and other key facilities, eroding the downtown fabric of life.

Despite claims that Russian attacks are retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy facilities, Kyiv’s mayor pointed out that it was Moscow that first launched these assaults, and the city now faces relentless aerial pressure.
