At least three people have been killed and 15 injured in a blast that occurred at a restaurant in Moscow, police said.

The explosion happened around 20:00 local time on Kudrinskaya Square near the city centre. While investigators have not yet identified a definitive cause, a source on the Baza Telegram channel suggested the blast originated in the establishment’s kitchen.

A witness, who appeared on the Baza channel, reported that the venue was hosting a wedding reception attended by about 50 guests. He said he saw people being rushed out of the building, covered in blood, after the incident.

Roads around the square were briefly closed, and a local cycling event—planned for the evening—was cancelled when the blast occurred. The incident temporarily disrupted traffic flow in the area.

Video released by Russia’s RIA news agency showed heavily armed law enforcement officers at the scene, which had been sealed off to the public while the investigation proceeded.
