Mysterious White Foam on Nigerian Highway Triggers Investigation
An odd white foamy spray found on the Kaduna‑Abuja expressway has attracted crowds willing to snap pictures and raises worries about safety for drivers.
The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, Nesrea, dispatched a team from its Kaduna state office to examine the site. Officials collected samples of the foam, nearby earth, and stream water to run laboratory tests aimed at identifying the composition and potential hazards.
Nesrea warned citizens to avoid contact with the substance, the water and the surrounding soil until the tests are finished, insisting that knowledge of the material is essential before issuing safety guidance.
Preliminary findings suggest the foam could stem from a spill caused by a truck accident, though the exact cargo is still unknown.
Motorists stopped to photograph the foam, some believing it resembled snow or clouds falling from the sky. Local drivers like Isah Aminu said people were fascinated but also uneasy about touching it.
Authorities remain on the scene, preparing to announce further details once laboratory results are available.
