Ukraine’s latest strikes on Russia have killed nine people and injured 23 others, including a child.
In the Belgorod region, eight residents died in just 24 hours, and a woman in the Astrakhan area was killed by a drone strike. Two deaths were reported in Sumy from a nighttime drone attack, and two more were recorded in the Donetsk region.
Russian counter‑attacks on Ukraine were swift and lethal, with a drone strike in Odesa damaging a civilian vessel and injuring four people. Military facilities were also struck, including a FirePoint plant that supplies parts for Ukrainian missiles.
Moscow’s strike on Ukraine’s market in Kyiv destroyed the historic book market of the Pochayna district, leaving burnt books and smoke overhead, a stark reminder of the civilian toll.
Ukraine’s government reports that 822 drones were launched overnight on Russian territory, with 600 aimed toward Moscow. The regime claims the drones were part of long‑range strikes against key logistics hubs, including several locations of the retail giant Wildberries.
The retaliatory shots from Russia involved more than 1,550 drones, nearly 1,560 guided bombs, and 62 missiles, damaging Ukrainian infrastructure such as the Naftogaz supply network and factory sites used to produce drones.
Both sides maintain that their strikes are directed solely at military targets, yet civilian casualties and damaged civilian infrastructure continue to mount, deepening the humanitarian crisis across the region.
