Russian Drone Strikes Ukrainian TV Headquarters in Kyiv, Killing Five

A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine’s “We Are Ukraine” television channel in Kyiv this morning, killing five people and injuring at least five others, including journalists who were broadcasting live. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike as a “new page in Russian degradation” and said it was a deliberate attack on media personnel.

In addition to the TV channel strike, a separate attack on a passenger train in southern Ukraine killed a female employee, and overnight drone and missile strikes killed three people and injured 25 others. The State Emergencies Service reports that the city was hit at residential buildings and vehicles caught fire, while residents shelter in metro stations during the ongoing bombardment.

Kyiv has recorded more daily air‑raid alerts than at any time since Russia’s full‑scale invasion in 2022. The city’s air‑raid sirens are sounding 24 hours a day, prompting citizens to rely on underground metro stations as their primary refuge.

President Zelensky has called for continued support from Ukraine’s allies in Europe and the United States, citing the need for a joint effort to stop Russia’s relentless attacks. He also urged the international community to maintain pressure on Russia to end its campaign of aggression.

This latest attack underscores the escalating intensity of Russian strikes on Kyiv’s infrastructure and the ongoing threat posed to journalists, residents, and the Ukrainian government.
