Authorities in Greece have taken five individuals into custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of Przemyslaw Jeziorski, a well-known professor at the University of California, Berkeley. The group includes Jeziorski's ex-wife and her current boyfriend, both of whom face charges of intentional homicide following the fatal shooting on July 4.
During their court appearance on Thursday, the identities of the suspects were not disclosed by police. However, the lawyer for Jeziorski’s ex-wife, Alexandros Pasiatas, spoke to the media, asserting that his client had no connection to the crime and dismissed any claims suggesting a custody battle over their children.
While authorities have confirmed the serious nature of the accusations, the specifics surrounding the ex-wife’s boyfriend's response have been less clear. The lawyer representing him mentioned that his client has "accepted responsibility" for the murder, although further details were not provided.
Jeziorski, who specialized in quantitative marketing and was originally from Poland, was reportedly with his two young children in Agia Paraskevi, a suburb of Athens, when the attack occurred. Witness reports indicate that he was shot multiple times in the chest and back. Officials revealed that, at the time of his death, Jeziorski was attempting to make legal arrangements for future visitations with his children—an effort that had previously been obstructed by his ex-wife.
