A violent tornado struck the city of Marsala and the nearby town of Petrosino in Sicily on Friday night, tearing through streets, knocking down structures and flipping vehicles.

Local media reports say two people were injured by the storm, and several buildings suffered damage from the high winds. Car wreckage scattered across the road and the sudden disappearance of neighbourhood signs highlighted the tornado’s intensity.

The violent weather was part of a chain of thunderstorms moving across the island, with meteorologists warning that additional severe weather could affect other parts of the central Mediterranean as conditions gradually eased.

Authorities are evaluating the full extent of the damage and working to aid residents who have been displaced, while the local emergency services remain on high alert for any subsequent outbreaks of severe weather.
