Aerial footage and ground reports confirm the missile struck east of the capital, causing powerful explosions that shattered windows in nearby apartment blocks and damaged cars. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service (DSNS) released photos of garages, a business, and a high‑rise on fire in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, stressing that the exact number of casualties was still being established.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, who had recently visited Serbia, noted that the country’s depleted stockpile of missile interceptors has left civilians increasingly vulnerable. He argued that a strengthened interceptor program “could have saved lives” in recent deadly assaults.
