In a heartbreaking incident that has rattled the Ghanaian football community, 20-year-old Dominic Frimpong tragically lost his life after armed robbers opened fire on the bus carrying the Berekum Chelsea team. The attack occurred as the team was returning from a Premier League match against Samartex, with reports indicating that masked gunmen ambushed the bus, blocking its path and firing shots as players fled to safety.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) expressed its “profound shock and deep sorrow,” extending condolences to Frimpong's family and his teammates. The GFA remarked that Dominic was a promising young talent whose dedication and passion for the game embodied the spirit of our league. Frimpong had joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC earlier this year and had contributed two goals in 13 appearances.

The GFA has called for thorough investigation and justice as the assailants remain at large. Authorities are reportedly working closely with the football club to enhance security measures to protect teams during their travels in the future. This incident underscores the pressing need for improved safety protocols for athletes and staff alike within the country's sports sector.
