A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official says.

Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that two boys, both aged 1, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone hit a house they were staying in.

A 35-year-old pregnant woman and another woman, aged 76, were injured in the strike on Bohodukhiv, Synegubov reported.

The attack on Tuesday night comes as Moscow escalates its campaigns following a week-long lull, coinciding with a period of severe cold temperatures in Ukraine.

Separately, Russian forces dropped seven bombs on the city of Slovyansk around noon, killing two people, including an 11-year-old girl.

Earlier this week, Bohodukhiv faced attacks that claimed the lives of four people, including a mother and her 10-year-old son. The area is struggling with ongoing strikes that target transport and energy infrastructures, driving local authorities to declare a state of emergency due to the energy crisis.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that the conflict's impacts are worsening, with an increasing number of missiles fired at civilian areas. Efforts for peace talks are expected, as both sides face immense pressure from ongoing hostilities.
