A convicted German transgender right-wing extremist, who has been on the run for months, has been arrested in the Czech Republic. Marla-Svenja Liebich was apprehended based on a European arrest warrant in Krásná, located about 100 km east of Prague.
In August 2025, Liebich, formerly known as Sven, failed to appear at the prison in Chemnitz, Germany, to begin serving an 18-month sentence. Reports indicate that she was previously associated with the neo-Nazi group Blood and Honour.
In July 2023, after a conviction for extreme right incitement to hatred, defamation, and insult, Liebich received a sentence of one year and six months without the possibility of parole. She unsuccessfully appealed against this decision, at which time she was still known as Sven Liebich.
Currently in custody in the Czech Republic, Liebich is expected to face extradition back to Germany. She had changed her gender entry in official records to female at the end of 2024 under Germany's new Self-Determination Act, allowing such changes with a simple declaration. This transition has raised questions about its authenticity, with criticism from German officials suggesting it was an exploitation of the new law. During her arrest, Liebich was reportedly wearing men's clothing and a shaved head, even attempting to evade capture briefly.
