Trump Administration Accuses Banned Media of Falsehoods Ahead of Court Hearing

The United States Justice Department has filed documents against CNN, Politico and MS NOW, accusing them of disseminating verifiable falsehoods and threatening national security, as the ban across the White House faces a legal challenge.

Last week President Donald Trump barred the three outlets from the White House, citing “fake news” as the reason. The journalists’ credentials were revoked without advance notice or a court order, prompting a joint lawsuit claiming a breach of First Amendment rights.

A federal judge on Wednesday will decide whether to issue a temporary order allowing the outlets to return to the White House pending a full hearing. In the meantime, 49 other media organizations have signed a brief supporting the lawsuit.

The White House has launched a 24‑hour channel, Trump TV, and media networks have withdrawn from the traditional pool arrangement. The dispute has escalated to the United Nations, where Trump publicly admonished CNN reporters and labeled the outlets “treasonous.”
