Donald Trump told reporters in Texas that the Iran war would end immediately after the November midterm elections, saying that oil prices would fall once the conflict concludes.
The former president added that Tehran’s recent actions are a bid to affect the U.S. elections and leave a “weak” opposition in charge, suggesting that Iran would have a nuclear weapon if it wins.
Trump said the war is in its seventh month and, based on current tensions, would not last more than a few weeks. He warned that oil prices could hit $100 a barrel and that the U.S. diesel price could reach an all‑time high, which might raise U.S. interest rates.
The President also said that further talks with Iran are possible but a priority isn’t being made to negotiate.
The remarks were made while Trump was en route to his party’s first‑ever midterm election convention, where the balance of power in Congress could shift.
