For nearly two months, federal agents have been conducting surprise raids across Chicago as part of the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration agenda. These operations, branded as “Operation Midway Blitz,” have sparked widespread concern due to their violent nature. Reports indicate instances where agents have struck restrained individuals, deployed tear gas near schools, and threatened bystanders with pepper spray.
A palpable culture of fear has emerged, leaving many residents, particularly in predominantly Latino neighborhoods, reluctant to leave their homes. Social media posts and interviews reveal a deep sense of shock and anger regarding the excessive use of force observed during these raids.

Another incident took place on October 24 where tear gas was dispersed on residents in Lakeview, a neighborhood known for its affluent community. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as residents ran for cover, illustrating the widespread impact of these enforcement actions.
