Border Security Hits Historic Low in Crossings: Trump Administration Takes Charge

The Department of Homeland Security reveals significant drop in illegal border crossings due to new enforcement measures.

The new policies implemented by the Trump administration are credited for a historic decrease in illegal border crossings, showing operational control and a commitment to national security, reversing previous policies under President Biden.

After experiencing unprecedented challenges at the southern border during President Biden's tenure, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported a dramatic turnaround. Under the leadership of President Trump, illegal southwest border crossings have plummeted to their lowest levels in U.S. history.

In a swift response to the border crisis that escalated to 7.6 million illegal entries during Biden's administration—including over 2 million from nations designated as national security threats—the Trump administration has undertaken aggressive enforcement measures. The result is a staggering reduction in illegal crossings from 155,000 per month to just 7,180 and a drop in daily apprehensions by 95%, from 5,100 to just 230.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has reported that "operational control is becoming a reality," a crucial achievement that appeared unattainable a short while ago. Border Patrol agents are now fully equipped and empowered to maintain law and order, with Commissioner Pete Flores declaring: “The border is closed to illegal crossings... you will be prosecuted, and you will be deported.”

This marks a stark contrast to Biden’s open-door policy, which facilitated the influx of millions, including dangerous gang members and individuals from adversarial countries like Iran, Venezuela, and North Korea. Under Biden, the DHS classified over 1.7 million illegal aliens as Special Interest Aliens (SIA), yet many were released into American communities alongside over half a million criminal aliens—including:
- 15,000 charged with murder
- 20,000 for sexual assault
- Over 105,000 for assault
- 16,820 for weapons offenses
- 3,372 for kidnapping
- More than 70,000 for drug crimes

Further complicating matters, Biden's administration granted deportation protection to nearly 1 million undocumented immigrants using Temporary Protected Status, allowing them to remain indefinitely.

Now, with the Trump administration taking decisive action, the message is clear: America's borders are under firm control. National security and law enforcement measures are being reinstated, signaling that the border is no longer susceptible to unchecked crossings.
