According to police reports, four of the injured were swiftly transported to hospitals; however, all are expected to recover with non-life-threatening injuries. The police also reassured the public via social media that there was no ongoing threat to those inside the stadium during the match.
Authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing injuries. Eyewitness footage circulating on social media depicted the vehicle stopping near waste bins before accelerating into the gathered supporters. This unfortunate event occurred as Espanyol fans prepared to welcome their team’s coach, which heightened the tension and emotions at the scene.
In response to the incident, ten ambulances were deployed to assist the injured party, with reports indicating that the most serious case involved a broken leg. "It was an accident, and while some individuals were hurt, thankfully, none of the injuries are severe. Overall, there are no significant events to report," stated Salvador Illa, the President of the Government of Catalonia, who was in attendance at the game and spoke with the Spanish outlet Movistar Plus.
