A suspect remains at large following a tragic bar shooting in Anaconda, Montana, which claimed four lives.
A manhunt is currently underway in Anaconda, Montana, for a suspect identified as Michael Paul Brown, following a shooting incident at The Owl Bar that resulted in the deaths of four individuals. The gunfire erupted around 10:30 AM local time, prompting a rapid response from the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation and federal agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Anaconda, a city with approximately 10,000 residents, is located 109 miles west of Bozeman and historically known as a copper mining hub. The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center cautioned that Brown is "believed to be armed and dangerous," instructing the public not to approach him if seen but rather to contact law enforcement.
Authorities are advising local residents to remain indoors and secure their homes while the search for the suspect intensifies. The Granite County Sheriff's Office described the suspect's appearance, noting he may be wearing a tie-dyed shirt, blue jeans, and an orange bandana. SWAT teams have already searched Brown's residence, which they have since cleared.
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has expressed condolences and called on citizens to pray for the victims and their families as well as for law enforcement personnel involved in the ongoing response to the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is also providing assistance in the investigation, with reports indicating that police drones are being utilized in the extensive manhunt. The Owl Bar, where the incident took place, has a storied history dating back to 1893 when it served miners in the area.
