Unidentified Drones Cause Stir Over U.S. Air Bases in England
Several small drones have been sighted over key U.S. Air Force installations in Britain, sparking security concerns.
A series of unidentified drones have made their appearance over four significant bases utilized by the United States Air Force in the United Kingdom, raising concerns about airspace security. The Air Force confirmed that sightings of “small unmanned aerial systems” have been detected around locations including R.A.F. Lakenheath and R.A.F. Mildenhall in Suffolk, as well as R.A.F. Feltwell in Norfolk and R.A.F. Fairford in Gloucestershire.
In an official statement, the U.S. Air Force reassured that “none of the incursions impacted base residents, facilities or assets,” while affirming their commitment to safeguarding these strategic installations. U.S. Air Force officials, including Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder, made it clear during a news briefing that the situation is being closely analyzed. “We’ll take it seriously. We’re continuing to look into it, but as of right now, it has not had any significant mission impact,” he stated.
The British Ministry of Defense weighed in, emphasizing their commitment to security: “We take threats seriously and maintain robust measures at defense sites. We are supporting the U.S. Air Force response.” The situation remains evolving as authorities continue to monitor drone activity over these installations.
