In a recent update, US envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are slated to connect through a phone call in the upcoming days to explore a potential ceasefire agreement in Ukraine. Witkoff, following his discussions with Putin in Moscow, mentioned that he expects the call to happen this week, highlighting the ongoing engagement with Ukrainian officials.

Last week, both the US and Ukraine put forth a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire to Russia. Although President Putin indicated his support for a halt in hostilities, he also outlined stringent conditions for peace. Witkoff expressed optimism about what he believes will be a constructive dialogue between the two leaders, stating, "I think the two presidents are going to have a really good and positive discussion this week."

In conjunction with the upcoming discussions, US negotiators are preparing to meet with representatives from both Ukraine and Russia to further advance the talks. Witkoff expressed hope that a concrete deal could be reached in the coming weeks, reflecting a proactive diplomatic approach.
