Kyiv Faces Tragedy as Russian Strike Claims Four Lives
A devastating aerial attack in Kyiv has left four dead and many injured as the war intensifies.
At least four individuals lost their lives during a recent Russian missile and drone assault on Kyiv, as reported by Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. The strikes targeted residential districts, hospitals, and sports facilities, with the Shevchenkivskyi area reportedly suffering the most destruction. Klymenko noted that an entire section of a high-rise building collapsed, resulting in numerous residents potentially trapped under rubble.
Regional authorities confirmed the death of a woman and injuries to two others in the broader Kyiv region due to the assault. Ukraine's emergency services, DSNS, reported that 13 individuals sustained injuries, including two children and a pregnant woman. In chilling footage circulated online, distraught locals were seen escaping the flames engulfing their homes.
A significant anger among residents has been sparked by the attack, which also caused damage to underground metro entrances, forcing many to seek shelter there during the night as air raid sirens rang out. Local officials indicated that multiple fires erupted throughout the capital, adding to the chaos and fear.
This latest wave of aerial bombardments comes as Russia has ramped up strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks since launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
