The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, is a monumental undertaking that brings together over 3,000 influential participants from various sectors every January. This year, the meeting, which runs from Monday to Friday, continues a legacy that began in 1971 when Klaus Schwab, a German economist, founded the event initially as the European Management Symposium.
Severin Podolak, appointed head of event management and operations in 2021, plays a vital role in orchestrating this esteemed gathering. With a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in events and hospitality, including a prior position at the Swiss Re Group, Podolak meticulously designs and oversees the meeting’s logistics.
“My responsibility encompasses the finer details that guarantee a seamless experience: from ensuring technology functions flawlessly to managing the comfort and nourishment of our participants,” Podolak explained. His extensive role also includes coordinating session timings, accommodations, and transportation to Davos.
Podolak expressed a deep passion for organizing events that inspire meaningful change on a global scale. He aligns with the WEF’s mission to enhance the world through collaborative efforts among various stakeholders, further reinforcing the significance of his role at this high-profile event.
