Trump Declared in Exceptional Health by White House Physician
A comprehensive medical assessment confirms the president's fitness for duty.
U.S. President Donald Trump received a clean bill of health from his White House physician, Captain Sean Barbabella, following a rigorous five-hour medical assessment at Walter Reed hospital. In a memo released by the White House, Barbabella reported that Trump, at 78 years old, remains in "excellent cognitive and physical health" and is fit for his role as Commander-in-Chief.
During the examination, which included various blood tests and ultrasound imaging, Trump also displayed "robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function," the memo noted. In addition, the president was found to have scarring on his ear from a gunshot wound sustained during an assassination attempt last July. The physician stated that Trump's active lifestyle, highlighted by his golfing activities, plays a significant role in his overall health.
Trump underwent comprehensive neurological tests, including the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), where he scored a perfect 30 out of 30. He expressed confidence in his mental acuity, affirming that he "got every answer right." He mentioned that doctors provided him with lifestyle advice to enhance his well-being, although specifics were not disclosed.
In terms of his health records, Trump is managing his cholesterol with medications, and other mild conditions were addressed, including some benign skin lesions and minor sun damage. At 224 lbs and 6 ft 2.5 in tall, Trump has notably lost weight since February 2019 when he weighed 243 lbs.
This recent physical serves as the first public medical report since the July attack, which left Trump with superficial injuries. Despite past health concerns, including weight management recommendations from former doctors, Trump's current health appears to be stable and he continues to actively engage with the public and his responsibilities as president. Comparatively, he has previously criticized the health of his political rival, President Joe Biden, who left office at 82.
