New Spiritual Leader for Ismaili Muslims: Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini Takes Helm

Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini has been appointed as the 50th Aga Khan following the death of his father.

In a significant transition of leadership within the Shia Ismaili Muslim community, Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini has officially taken on the role of the new Aga Khan. The announcement follows the recent passing of his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan, at the age of 88. This historic appointment was revealed after the unsealing of Prince Karim's will, confirming Prince Rahim as the successor.

As the 50th hereditary Imam, Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini assumes spiritual supervision over approximately 15 million Ismaili Muslims worldwide. This figure includes a substantial community across Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, and parts of Africa. The Ismailis are known for their devotion to a lineage of Imams, tracing their roots directly back to the Prophet Muhammad.

Prince Karim Aga Khan had held the title since 1957, succeeding his grandfather at a young age of 20. He passed away in Lisbon, Portugal, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of philanthropic contributions and community leadership that will continue to inspire under the guidance of his son. With these significant changes, both the Ismaili community and the broader Muslim world will be watching closely as Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini steps into his new role.
