On Monday, Nasser Hospital - the largest in southern Gaza and one of the few still partially operating in the Strip - was hit twice by Israeli strikes.

At least 20 people were reportedly killed, including journalists and medical staff. The attack has drawn international condemnation, and the United Nations has stated that there must be justice.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referred to the incident as a tragic mishap. Following the strikes on Tuesday, the Israeli military claimed that the attack targeted a camera positioned by Hamas, but did not provide evidence and acknowledged that further investigation was required to understand how the strikes were authorized.

BBC Verify conducted an analysis of the footage from both the attack and the subsequent aftermath to reconstruct the timeline of events and highlight its implications.
