The family of the Bondi shooting's youngest victim, Matilda, urged the community not to let her death fuel anger as they bid a final farewell to the 10-year-old on Thursday.

Matilda was one of the 15 individuals tragically killed when two gunmen opened fire during a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney's Bondi Beach.

During the funeral, her aunt, Lina Chernykh, emphasized that while the Jewish community rightfully demands actions against antisemitism, Matilda was a joyful child who spread love, urging everyone to honor her legacy by doing the same.

Take your anger and… just spread happiness and love and memory for my lovely niece, Ms. Chernykh stated poignantly.

She further expressed hope that Matilda may now be an angel, bringing positive vibes to the world.

The attack has been identified as a terrorist incident, allegedly motivated by Islamic State ideology. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese noted that the shooters, a father and son duo, are responsible for this heinous act.

Mourners gathered in large numbers, including distinguished leaders like Governor General Sam Mostyn and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, all paying tribute through the wearing of bee broaches—a reflection of Matilda's adoration for them.

Matilda's name adorned her coffin, reminiscent of the joy she brought into the lives of her loved ones. As the community grapples with this loss, there’s a collective call for love, remembrance, and healing amidst grief.

While the funeral service was filled with sorrow, it also served as a reminder of Matilda's spirit—one that her family hopes will inspire a push for compassion in the wake of this tragedy.
