Controversial Rapper Namewee Detained in Connection with Influencer's Mysterious Death

Malaysian rapper Namewee has been remanded in custody in connection with the perplexing death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, found dead in a Kuala Lumpur hotel bathtub two weeks ago.

The 42-year-old artist was reportedly the last person seen with Hsieh, 31, who was in Malaysia to discuss a commercial project that Namewee was set to direct, according to her social media manager.

Initially arrested on charges of illegal drug use and possession, which he denied, Namewee was released on bail only to be taken back into custody as police classified Hsieh's death as murder.

In a turn of events, Namewee voluntarily surrendered to police and is currently on remand for six days to aid in the investigation.
