Describing the moment, Mr. Simancas recalled, "I felt something hit me from behind — all this happened in a second. Something dark blue or white enveloped me, and I felt a slimy texture brush my face." Just as quickly as it happened, he discovered he was in the whale’s mouth, momentarily submerged and expecting an impact that never came. Thanks to his life jacket, he surfaced unharmed, just as his inflatable kayak popped back into view.

The awe-inspiring encounter took place near the San Isidro Lighthouse and the scenic Bahía El Águila, a region renowned for its diverse wildlife, including sea lions and eagles, alongside the majestic whales. Mr. Simancas's father captured the jaw-dropping experience on video, further amplifying the remarkable tale of survival.
