Actor James Handy, 81, known for his roles in television series such as Castle and film appearances like Jumanji, was found stabbed to death in the front garden of his Tarzana, California, home on Wednesday.
Los Angeles Police Department officials said Handy, who had a long career spanning six decades, was discovered unconscious with multiple stab wounds to his chest. Officers responded following a 911 call that described the incident as “unknown trouble.”
The suspect, Michael Gledhill, 44, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, was arrested on suspicion of murder. According to police statements, Gledhill approached officers near the house and identified himself as the person they were searching for.
Gledhill was taken to Van Nuys Jail and booked on a single count of murder with a $2 million bail set by the court.
The LAPD has stated the incident appears to be isolated and there is no public danger. The grand jury is expected to review the case soon.
