Nuwakot: 64-Year-Old Woman Safe Inside Mud-Buried Home After Himalayan Avalanche

A massive avalanche swept through the Nuwakot valley, burying buildings, roads, and people under a thick blanket of ice, rock and mud. Amid the catastrophe, rescuers from the Armed Police Force uncovered a frantic surviving story: 64‑year‑old Chandika Shrestha was living on the fourth floor of her house, hidden but alive in the wreckage.

After a tense search, Shrestha’s safe extraction was confirmed. She was immediately air‑lifted to a hospital in Kathmandu for emergency treatment, with doctors assessing her condition for potential injuries caused by the collapse.
