Poland's President: Trump as the Key to Counter Putin's Threat

Donald Trump is the only world leader capable of stopping Vladimir Putin from threatening Europe, according to Poland's President Karol Nawrocki.

In an interview with Radio 4's Today programme, he stated that the Russian leader was untrustworthy, urging Europe to back Trump in his mission to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

Nawrocki, a long-time supporter of Trump, asserted that with the ongoing threats from Russia, specifically to central and eastern Europe, the US president is uniquely positioned to solve this crisis.

The Polish president referred to last September's mass incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace, noting it as an unprecedented attack on a NATO member, indicating that Russia is testing both Poland's defenses and NATO's unity.

Nawrocki also expressed gratitude to the UK for deploying RAF Typhoon jets to help bolster Poland's defense amid what he described as a state of hybrid war with Russia, characterized by drone incursions and disinformation efforts since 2021.

While discussing Trump's controversial statements regarding Greenland, Nawrocki maintained that the US remains a key security guarantor for Europe, advocating for support of Trump's initiatives as essential for maintaining European stability.

He voiced concern over European leaders prioritizing ideological agendas over defense, emphasizing Poland's significant military investment, which approaches 5% of its GDP.

Nawrocki reinforced the importance of UK-Polish relations, recognizing the significant Polish community in the UK, and expressing appreciation for British troops stationed in Poland, crucial in protecting NATO’s eastern front.
